Measurement and verification of energy savings

The verification of savings guarantees that energy saving measures are working correctly, and shows that energy consumption reductions have been achieved.

The International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP®) is a guide to describe processes related to the measurement, calculation and report writing, and which demonstrates the savings coming from energy efficiency projects.

Energy savings are achieved by reducing consumption, then it is not easy to measure savings. Savings are measured by comparing consumption before and after the implementation of the energy saving measures, whilst accounting for the appropriate adjustments to make the comparison possible.
